Knowles started singing at an early age. As a child, she competed in regional talent programs, and gained many of these occasions by thrilling audiences with her natural singing and dancing capabilities. Teaming up with her cousin, Kelly Rowland, and 2 schoolmates, Beyoncé formed an all-female singing group. Her father, Matthew Knowles, worked as the band's supervisor.
